YAP AH KUAN

Head Coach

Ah Kuan is a nationally recognised coach with over 24 years of rich coaching experience under his belt. He was the Head Coach/Assistant Coach of the women’s National Volleyball Team. During his time, he led the team to the 22nd and 23rd Southeast Asian Games in 2003 and 2005 respectively. Recounting his early days, volleyball became a sport that prevented him from going astray and changed his life. Thanks to volleyball, it helped in his character development and shaped him into the person he is today. Many of the valuable lessons he gained in life was learnt through the sport which formed the basis of his coaching approach from the very beginning. Ah Kuan’s favourite quote in his career is, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” He strongly believes in the power of teamwork being the fundamental of a thriving team which is a core principles that holds true even in a professional setting.

CHEE KOK LEONG

Coach

Kok Leong is a Vice-President Financial Services with Manulife Financial Advisory and he also sits in the Management Committee of the Volleyball Association of Singapore. Despite only taking up volleyball at the age of 16, he excelled in the sport and represented Singapore for both the indoor and the beach national team. His love for the sport is deeply rooted and he is passionate about growing the volleyball scene in Singapore. With 20 years of coaching experience under his belt, Kok Leong hopes to train and groom athletes to represent the nation in regional competitions. His ultimate vision is to see the Singapore volleyball arena making splashes in major competitions worldwide, doing the Nation proud.

kINGSLEY TAY

Coach

Kingsley is an undergraduate in the Singapore University of Technology and Design majoring in Engineering System Design. He is the captain of the National Beach Volleyball Team and represented Singapore in the 30th SEA Games with the team achieving a 4th place finish last year. Prior to this, Kingsley also represented the Singapore National Indoor Volleyball Team in the 28th SEA Games in 2015. His journey to pursue excellence in the sport continues with the transition from indoor to beach volleyball. At present, Kingsley aims to win Singapore’s first medal in beach volleyball. Apart from competing as a player, he hopes to share his experience with younger aspiring athletes and motivate them to chase their dreams.

Ong wei yu

Coach

Weiyu has been playing Indoor Volleyball for 13 years and 8 years for Beach Volleyball. She has been competing in school teams and on international level ever since. She is presently a member of the Singapore National Beach Volleyball team and have participated in several major games which includes the Commonwealth Games and the South-East Asian Beach Volleyball Championship.

CECILIA SOH

Coach

Cecilia is a student pursuing a diploma in Mechatronics at Temasek Polytechnic. She has been playing Indoor and Beach Volleyball for 11 years and 3 years respectively. Currently, she plays for her tertiary institution, Temasek Polytechnic as well as the Singapore National Beach Volleyball team. Besides striving to improve herself as a player, she hopes to be a part and aid others in their volleyball journey.
